It is advisable, when travelling always carry your passport, airline tickets and money on your person.  The money can be used for local purchases, tipping, etc.  Also take enough clothing and supplies with you on board the plane to use on the first day of your safari in case your luggage does not arrive the same day you do. When preparing for your safari it is important to remember to pack lightly especially if you're taking domestic flights between parks because the baggage weight is limited to 15-20 kgs (33-44 lbs) total per person. It is advisable to use soft-sided luggage instead of rectangular suitcases, as it packs more easily into the safari vehicle and also weighs less.

On village visits, it is advisable for women to wear lightweight dress or skirt that covers knees and shoulders should also be covered. Men should wear short-sleeve shirts with collars. It is recommended you bring beige, neutral or khaki coloured clothes, and bright and camouflaged colours should be avoided. The following items are recommended:

  • 2 pair shorts, mid-thigh or longer
  • 2 pair long pants (zip-off are useful)
